AT&T Inc fell $.39 or 1.6 percent, to $24.68.
Qwest rose $.05 or 1.3 percent, to $4.05.
Sprint Nextel fell $.09 or 2.0 percent, to $4.52.
Verizon fell $.47 or 1.5 percent, to $30.35.
