Shares of some top coal companies were down at the close of trading:
Arch Coal fell $.45 or 3.0 percent, to $14.78.
Consol Energy fell $2.47 or 7.3 percent, to $31.40.
Massey Energy fell $.69 or 3.6 percent, to $18.23.
Peabody Energy fell $.86 or 2.9 percent, to $29.16.
