Shares of some top insurers companies were down at the close of trading:
MBIA fell $.25 or 5.9 percent, to $3.96.
MGIC Investments fell $.32 or 7.3 percent, to $4.04.
XL Capital fell $1.01 or 8.2 percent, to $11.25.
