Shares of some top machinery companies were down at the close of trading:
Caterpillar fell $1.45 or 4.4 percent, to $31.74.
Deere fell $1.84 or 4.6 percent, to $38.53.
Manitowoc fell $.33 or 6.1 percent, to $5.12.
Terex fell $.64 or 5.3 percent, to $11.51.
