Shares of some top managed care companies were down at the close of trading:

Aetna fell $1.48 or 5.8 percent, to $24.05.

CIGNA fell $.91 or 3.7 percent, to $23.66.

Coventry Healthcare fell $1.15 or 6.0 percent, to $17.91.

Humana fell $1.34 or 4.1 percent, to $31.18.

UnitedHealth fell $1.25 or 5.0 percent, to $23.91.

WellPoint fell $1.50 or 2.9 percent, to $49.75.
