Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:
AT&T Inc fell $.48 or 1.9 percent, to $24.59.
Qwest rose $.11 or 2.8 percent, to $4.11.
Sprint Nextel fell $.29 or 6.3 percent, to $4.32.
Verizon fell $.64 or 2.1 percent, to $30.18.
