<THE HARRY JONES PORTFOLIO>
By Harry Jones
(Jan. 5, 1999) -- I went into town last September and met with a broker at one of those big-name firms. Fellow couldn't explain to my satisfaction why his company's mutual funds are worth paying more for, just to underperform an index fund. So I'm doing this myself, with spiders (which I read about in Fool's newspaper column). He didn't know what spiders were.
The S&P 500 rose 1.36% today, and the Harry Jones Portfolio rose 1.22%
