<THE HARRY JONES PORTFOLIO>

(January 11, 1999) -- Hi, this is Irv, Harry's friend. Harry is away doing some purchasing today (he's in and out this week) and I couldn't reach him for any comment. I really doubt he has any idea what happened on the stock market today, anyway. So I thought I'd take the time to explain my role in all this.
Not only am I friend of Harry's, but I'm also a manager on his farm. I use a computer, while Harry does not. At the end of each day, I sign online to fool.com and check the results, which I then try to communicate to Harry. He gives me back his comment face-to-face or by phone, and I type it in. It's what you get to read every day.
I do my best to convey Harry's words directly, word by word, though I'm not a fast typer.
The Harry Jones Portfolio lost 0.98% of its value today, while the S&P 500 lost a similar 0.89%.
