A Tale of Two Sectors: Tech, Telecoms Highlight Dow Movers

Blue-chip shares did their best to trade sideways on Tuesday, ending nearly flat as investors waited to hear more explicit plans from the Federal Reserve, which began a two-day policy meeting today. Wall Street will also be paying close attention to the second-quarter gross domestic product set to be released tomorrow by the Department of Commerce. Meanwhile the Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDEX: ^DJI) ended with winners and losers polarized along sector lines, with the index as a whole falling 1 point, or less than 0.1%, to close at 15,520.
