Companies Fools Wish Were Public
Crate & Barrel
Titan Sports (WWF)
Would you like to buy stock in the company that sells M&Ms? How about the company that brings you the World Wrestling Federation? So would a few writers here at Fool HQ, but it's simply not possible today. Mars, which owns M&Ms, and Titan Sports, which owns the WWF, are privately held companies. Investors like you and me can't buy stock in these companies unless there's an initial public offering (IPO), a company's first sale of stock to the public.
But the lack of an IPO can't stop a Fool from dreaming for shares of good companies. We recently asked Fool writers to tell us about a company they wish would go public. They responded with nine companies with which you're probably very familiar. Find out who owns these companies, what the chances are of them going public, and why Fools want to see them take the plunge.
