If you were the CEO of Priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN) how would you save the floundering company? That's what we asked Fool readers back on October 17th and more than 700 of them entered our Save Priceline contest. Since then, Fool employees have been combing the contest discussion board and judging posts on content, originality, humor, and overall Foolishness. It wasn't easy Fools, but after much hand-wringing and hair-pulling we're ready to announce our winners.

Grand Prize Winner
Our grand prize winner, known on the Fool discussion boards as rgpeters, is Greg Peters. Greg wrote about a number of changes he'd make at Priceline in his winning post. Here's an excerpt:

  1. Have someone discretely inform Joey Roman that Priceline is nearing penny stock status. With his "proven" stock moving ability, his insider status (he must KNOW Shatner, or at least be invited to dinner occasionally), and his stellar track record, Joey Roman could be just the thing to get Priceline on track.

  2. Hire a better celebrity. Warren Buffet in place of William Shatner is a good start. Then hire the graphics company in charge of "Bob the talking infant" to run Buffett's dialog; telling the world about Priceline's value, business, etc. blah, blah, blah.

  3. Give away a stock certificate with every airline ticket purchase.

  4. Cuddle up with eBay, let them buy you out and hope for the best.
Greg will be receiving a $250 Amazon.com gift certificate and a selection of Golden Throats CDs.

First Prize Winner
Our first prize winner is John Flanagan, TexasTennis on the Fool discussion boards. Here's part of what John said in his post:
Over the past 48 hours, I've brainstormed with my team of financial experts to come up with the perfect solution to all of our problems. To cut down on some of our operating expenses, the following changes are effective immediately:
  1. Odd-numbered offices will be able to use electrical devices (lights, computers, microwaves, paper shredders, etc.) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Even numbered offices will be allowed to operate electrical devices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If your office is even numbered and you need to operate an electrical device on Fridays, then special permission must be obtained through Human Resources.

  2. Only documents containing 10 or more pages are worthy of a staple. Anything less, please lick the upper left corner of the pages to try holding them together.
John will be receiving a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate and the Golden Throats CDs.

The rest of our winners will be receiving Fool ballcaps. Be sure to check out their winning posts:
