I don't usually fret about saving a penny or two. I'm ruled more by convenience and expedience, so I'm unsure whether this is a LBYM issue.

This morning I needed two washers to place under a pair of screws I was about to fasten my work with. The washers needed to be about 1" in diameter with a 1/4" hole in the center. I bought some last week, so I knew the price for a package of six was 99 cents; but I didn't need six, I needed two.

Home Depot is seven miles round trip, and gasoline is $1.82 a gallon. If the checkout lines aren't too long, I could be back in 30 minutes. But the lines are always long.

So I took a couple of quarters and drilled 1/4" holes into them.
