The following video is part of our "Motley Fool Conversations" series, in which industrials editor/analyst Brendan Byrnes and technology and media editor/analyst Andrew Tonner discuss topics around the investing world.

In today's edition, Brendan and Andrew discuss the bull case for Caterpillar. Caterpillar's stock was one of the top performers on the Dow this year before falling over the past month or so. Brendan thinks this decline pushes the stock into "cheap" territory, and he is also enthusiastic about the company's stronger push into the mining-equipment segment, which has been booming. A recovering commercial and residential market in the U.S. should help Caterpillar at home as well.

Caterpillar certainly looks like it can be a solid outperformer in the long run, but we've come across a different stock that has us so excited we can hardly contain our investing enthusiasm. This pick has so much promise that we've dubbed it "The Motley Fool's Top Stock for 2012."
