Oh, to be living in Kansas City right now. Fool contributor Tim Beyers reports that Google's (GOOGL 0.55%) chosen beneficiary for its fiber-to-the-home experiment is enjoying 1-gigabit-per-second upload and download Internet speeds, or more than 30 times his personal average using Comcast's (CMCSA -0.37%) souped-up XFINITY broadband service.

Yet while Google is getting the headlines, Level 3 Communications (LVLT) has been dealing in hyperfast fiber Internet service for more than a decade now. More data from the Kansas City experiment could raise interest from an acquirer. Who might buy? Check out Tim's ideas in the following video.
