As a people, we've become accustomed to getting what we want. And why not? The Internet is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Enter a search, get a response: It's on-demand media at its finest, most often brought to you by Google (GOOGL -1.23%).

"Ubiquitous" may be the best way to describe the search king. According to the latest data from comScore, Google served 66.7% of all searches in December. Think of it as a butler that travels with you, fulfilling your every need via connected apps and a massive online database.
