On Friday, the Department of Defense announced that it has awarded L-3 Communications (LLL) a $57.1 million firm-fixed-price contract to provide life-cycle contractor support maintenance for the Army's fleet of C-12 and RC-12 Huron transports and UC-35 Citation passenger jets.

The contract is said to have an estimated completion date of next Jan. 31. However, L-3 announced receipt of an almost identical-sounding contract in 2010, at which time L-3 clarified that the contract was slated to run five years with all options exercised.

At that time, L-3 noted that its duties included maintaining, repairing, modifying, servicing, and providing logistical support and management for the Army's worldwide fleet of approximately 190 aircraft.
