On Thursday, Boeing announced the signing of an agreement to build four 702MP satellites for the Luxembourg-based satellite communications firm. In conjunction with Intelsat's Epic(NG) high-throughput platform, "the 702MPs will deliver reliable, affordable and high-capacity data transmission that Intelsat customers can tailor to their needs," said Boeing in a statement.
Intelsat was Boeing's inaugural customer for the 702MP, buying its first four units in 2009. This week's order will up the company's fleet of Boeing 702MPs to eight, beginning with the first delivery from this present order, in 2016.
Financial terms of the order were not disclosed.
