The finance team at NxStage Medical (NXTM) has a new leader. The company announced it has named Matthew Towse to be its senior vice president and CFO. Making room for him is the man he replaces in both positions, Robert Brown, who will serve as president of the firm's kidney-care subsidiary.

This is not Towse's first CFO job. He occupied that position at privately held technology company Vette and at Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS). He also held several managerial posts at National Semiconductor, now a unit of Texas Instruments (TXN -1.00%).

In the press release announcing the news, NxStage touted Towse's "extensive experience aligning the financial and business strategies of high-growth companies. As our new CFO, Matt's leadership will be important as we execute against our strategic growth initiatives."
