Northrop Grumman (NOC 0.86%) notched victories on a pair of Pentagon defense contracts Wednesday.
The first, and the larger by a skosh, was a $34.6 million award cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price foreign military sales contract to deliver and install four French E-2C Identification Friend or Foe Mode 5/Mode S interrogator and transponder units for the French air force. The units, three of which will be installed in French E-2C Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft, plus one spare, are used to electronically tell allied aircraft that the E-2Cs in question are "friendlies," and to inquire whether other planes in the air are the same. Delivery is expected to take place by December 2018.
Northrop's other contract, worth $31.4 million, modifies a pre-existing firm-fixed-price contract to do engineering work on a batch of Full Rate Production Lot 1 E-2D Advanced Hawkeye early warning aircraft for the U.S. Navy. This latter contract should run through September 2016.
In total, the two contracts add up to $66 million in incremental revenues for Northrop.
