Best time of the day to buy cryptocurrency
Because crypto trades all day long, timing your trades to a certain time of day can be tricky, or even futile. However, if you analyze a few months of data, a very general pattern emerges.
Bitcoin (BTC +4.79%), Ethereum (ETH +7.86%), XRP (XRP +2.55%), Binance (BNB +2.72%), and Solana (SOL +4.18%) trading activity tends to rise and fall at roughly the same time, which is handy for the sake of comparing windows to buy the cryptos with the highest market capitalizations.
Looking at data from the 90 days prior to June 5, 2025, the best time of day to purchase these popular cryptocurrencies in the United States was generally in the afternoon, though the evening was a close second.
Other coins not considered to be as "serious" also followed similar patterns, such as Shiba Inu (SHIB +1.50%) and Dogecoin (DOGE +2.08%).
Best time of the week to buy cryptocurrency
Based on the same data used above, the best day of the week to buy crypto seems to be Monday, followed by Thursday, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday tied for third place.
In the 90 days preceding June 5, 2025, Monday had twice as many buying opportunities as the next-best day, Thursday, but there were also significant price drops on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The worst day -- hands down -- was Sunday.
Best time of the month to buy cryptocurrency
With crypto, everything is constantly changing, which is a problem if you're trying to time purchases. During the same time period used above, however, the best time to buy is typically near the end of the month. Values tend to fall throughout the month, with price collapses more common in the last 10 days, when data is grouped into 10-day windows. However, in the three months ending June 5, 2025, the individual day of the month with the most drops in value was the 10th.
Again, this may vary with some cryptos or smaller altcoins. Based on the coins with the highest capitalization rates, however, the trend seemed to be fairly consistent.
