Over on CAPS, 55.7% of the 194 members who have rated Sealy believe the stock will underperform the S&P 500 going forward. These bears include tenmiles, who is ranked sixth in all of CAPS, and TSIF.

Last week, tenmiles cited Wednesday's analyst-topping earnings report (and subsequent 82% pop) as a short-term, short opportunity: "looks a bit extended near term - might be time to consider turning the mattress around $3.25."

In a pitch from one day earlier, TSIF also showed skepticism over Sealy's recent price action:

That Sealy reported a $4.7 Million profit this past quarter is a bit of a surprise, but Sealy has a knack for getting a boost after quarterly earnings, especially the quarter that includes some income tax return spending. Sealy may be able to cut costs and keep sales up, but with a negative $1.80 BOOK value per share, they will be a long time turning things around. 4,800 workers is a lot of sheep to count and kept fed. They do supply some of the lower cost stores that are holding up reasonably well, but when you're hungry, can't pay your mortgage, can't heat your home, can't buy gas for the car, etc, a lumpy mattress is the least of your worries.
