Today's Best High-Yield Savings Account Rates: Oct. 21, 2025 -- Earn up to 5.00% APY
Savers are still in a good place for now. Many high-yield savings accounts (HYSAs) are paying between 4.00% and 5.00% APY -- well above the modest returns most big banks continue to offer.
But the clock may be ticking. Some banks have already trimmed their rates, and with the Fed meeting next week on Oct. 28-29, another cut could send yields lower.
If you've been waiting to open an HYSA, this could be the moment to take advantage of one of the stronger remaining offers. Here are today's best high-yield savings account rates.
- Varo Savings -- up to 5.00% APY (Max APY on up to $5,000, 2.50% APY after)
- AdelFi Money Market Savings -- up to 5.00% APY ($25 min. to open. Max APY on up to $5,000, 2.25% APY for $5K-$10K. Promo code required)
- Fitness Bank Ultra Savings -- 4.75% APY ($100 min. to open. Other terms apply)
- Pibank Savings -- 4.60% APY (No min. balance)
- Axos ONE® -- up to 4.21% APY (Receive at least $1,500 in total monthly qualifying direct deposits and maintain an average daily balance of more than $1,500)
- Presidential Bank Advantage Savings -- 4.50% APY ($5,000 min. to open. Other terms apply)

Qualifying deposits do not include: (i) transfers internal to the bank (i.e., transfers between an account holder's Checking and/or Savings account), (ii) interest payments, (iii) promotional bonuses, (iv) credits, reversals, and refunds, (v) ATM deposits.
Both accounts must be in an open and active status on the 25th of the month and on the date the interest is paid to receive the promotional APY for that statement cycle. ¹New customers only. Earn a cash bonus (the "Base Bonus") when you deposit and maintain funds with partner banks on the Raisin platform. Customers will receive a Base Bonus of $50 for depositing between $10,000 and $24,999; $125 for depositing between $25,000 and $49,999; $250 for depositing between $50,000 and $99,999; $500 for depositing between $100,000 and $199,999; and $1,000 for depositing $200,000 or more.
Customers may earn an additional bonus by setting up a recurring deposit within 14 days of their initial deposit (the “Recurring Deposit Bonus”). To qualify, the recurring deposit must be established within 14 days of the initial deposit date and it must execute at least two (2) times within 90-days of the initial deposit. Recurring Deposit Bonus eligibility is determined by your Base Bonus tier:
- Customers depositing between $10,000–$24,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $100 or greater receive a $10 bonus
- Customers depositing between $25,000–$49,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $250 or greater receive a $25 bonus
- Customers depositing between $50,000–$99,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $500 or greater receive a $50 bonus
- Customers depositing between $100,000–$199,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $1,000 or greater receive a $100 bonus
- Customers depositing between $200,000+ with aggregate recurring deposits of $2,000 or greater receive a $200 bonus
Customers are eligible to earn the Recurring Deposit Bonus associated with their Base Bonus tier or any lower Recurring Deposit Bonus tier. For example, a customer with an initial deposit of $200,000 (qualifying for the highest Base Bonus tier) whose aggregate recurring deposits total $500, is eligible for the lower tier and will receive the $50 Recurring Deposit Bonus. However, setting up a recurring deposit greater than your Base Bonus tier's required threshold will not qualify you for a higher Recurring Deposit Bonus.
The Recurring Deposit Bonus is paid in addition to the Base Bonus. To qualify for the Base Bonus and Recurring Deposit Bonus, your first deposit must be initiated between June 1, 2026, and August 31, 2026, by 11:59 PM ET, and the promo code SUMMER26 must be entered at the time of sign-up. Only funds deposited within 14 days of the initial deposit date and maintained with partner banks on the Raisin platform for 90 days will be eligible for the Base Bonus. Bonus cash will be credited directly to your Cash Account within 30 days of meeting all qualifying terms. This offer is available to new customers only and may not be combined with any other bonus offers. Raisin may modify or end this offer at any time and may withhold or revoke bonuses in cases of fraud, abuse, or violation of these terms or Raisin’s Terms of Service.

Why a high-yield savings account still makes sense
Even after last month's Fed rate cut, plenty of high-yield savings accounts are still paying between 4.00% and 5.00% APY -- levels we haven't seen in years. That's a big step up from the near-zero rates still offered by most brick-and-mortar banks.
But it's not just about the higher yield. HYSAs are FDIC-insured up to $250,000 and give you easy access to your cash whenever you need it. That combination of safety, flexibility, and solid returns makes them a great home for both short-term savings and emergency funds.
One word of caution: rates can move quickly. The Fed has hinted at more rate cuts before year-end, which could send APYs lower. If you want to capture today's stronger returns, it's smart to act while they're still available.
How to open an HYSA in just a few steps
Starting a high-yield savings account is simple -- and you can do it from your phone or laptop in minutes.
- Compare your options. Look for accounts with a top-tier APY, no monthly fees, and simple terms. If the same bank offers checking, that can make transfers even smoother.
- Complete the application. Most banks let you open an account directly on their website. You'll need a few basics, like your address, date of birth, and Social Security number.
- Transfer your funds. Once approved, move money in from your checking or another savings account. Transfers usually settle within a few business days.
Once the funds land, you'll start earning interest automatically. Just remember to update any recurring deposits or payments so they link to your new account.
How much could your savings grow?
Even at 4.00% APY, your balance can build faster than you might expect. Here's what your savings could become over time -- with no extra contributions:
| Starting Balance | 1 Year | 5 Years | 10 Years | 20 Years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $204 | $1,104 | $2,457 | $5,622 |
| $10,000 | $408 | $2,208 | $4,914 | $11,244 |
| $20,000 | $816 | $4,416 | $9,828 | $22,488 |
That's the quiet power of compounding -- your money earning interest on interest, all while staying completely safe and accessible.
If your savings are still sitting in a low-rate account, you're leaving potential earnings on the table. Opening one of today's best high-yield savings accounts can help your money work up to 10 times harder -- without any extra effort on your part.

FAQs
-
Yes. Accounts from FDIC-insured banks (and NCUA-insured credit unions) protect your deposits up to $250,000 per person, per institution. That means your money stays secure even if the bank runs into trouble.
-
Rates can move anytime, especially when the Federal Reserve adjusts its benchmark rate. Some banks respond quickly, others more slowly. It's smart to check current APYs regularly and switch if another account starts paying more.
-
The Fed's rate cut last month didn't wipe out good savings opportunities -- many top HYSAs are still paying close to 5.00% APY. But with another Fed meeting later this month and talk of more cuts ahead, rates could slide lower. Opening an account now lets you capture today's stronger yields while they're still around.
