Western Alliance Bank High-Yield Savings Premier Review: One of the Top APYs of 2026

Review Updated
Jake FitzGerald
Many or all of the products here are from our partners that compensate us. It’s how we make money. But our editorial integrity ensures that our product ratings are not influenced by compensation. APY = Annual Percentage Yield.

Ready to earn one of the highest savings APYs in the country?

The Western Alliance Bank High-Yield Savings Premier account currently pays an eye-popping 3.80% APY -- with no monthly fees, no balance tiers, and unlimited withdrawals.

It's not the flashiest account around. But if you've got a fat stack of cash that you want to earn massive interest on, this is a great spot.

Western Alliance Bank offers a higher APY than most high-yield savings accounts. Plus, it's FDIC insured; therefore, deposits are perfectly safe up to applicable legal limits. The main drawback is that accounts don't have many features. For example, you can only deposit and withdraw funds via ACH transfer to/from an external bank account. This account is solid for those who want a sky-high APY, but don't mind a bare-bones banking experience.

What I like about the Western Alliance Bank High-Yield Savings Premier account

High APY

The biggest draw here is the 3.80% APY. If you've got a chunk of cash sitting idle and want to squeeze every dollar of interest out of it, this account consistently lands near the top of the market for high-yield savings accounts.

While rates do fluctuate with the broader interest rate environment, Western Alliance Bank has a solid track record of staying competitive. So even when rates shift, you're still likely in a good spot compared to what most traditional banks are offering.

No account fees

What's better than a high APY so your money grows for you? No fees to cut into that growth. You won't have to pay any fees to open or maintain your account -- period. While some other banks charge fees for maintaining your account, Western Alliance Bank won't.

No withdrawal limits

While other banks sometimes limit withdrawals from high-yield savings accounts to six per month, Western Alliance Bank High-Yield Savings Premier has no withdrawal limits. It's your money, and you can access it when you need it.

¹New customers only. Earn a cash bonus (the "Base Bonus") when you deposit and maintain funds with partner banks on the Raisin platform. Customers will receive a Base Bonus of $50 for depositing between $10,000 and $24,999; $125 for depositing between $25,000 and $49,999; $250 for depositing between $50,000 and $99,999; $500 for depositing between $100,000 and $199,999; and $1,000 for depositing $200,000 or more.

Customers may earn an additional bonus by setting up a recurring deposit within 14 days of their initial deposit (the “Recurring Deposit Bonus”). To qualify, the recurring deposit must be established within 14 days of the initial deposit date and it must execute at least two (2) times within 90-days of the initial deposit. Recurring Deposit Bonus eligibility is determined by your Base Bonus tier:

  • Customers depositing between $10,000–$24,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $100 or greater receive a $10 bonus
  • Customers depositing between $25,000–$49,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $250 or greater receive a $25 bonus
  • Customers depositing between $50,000–$99,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $500 or greater receive a $50 bonus
  • Customers depositing between $100,000–$199,999 with aggregate recurring deposits of $1,000 or greater receive a $100 bonus
  • Customers depositing between $200,000+ with aggregate recurring deposits of $2,000 or greater receive a $200 bonus

Customers are eligible to earn the Recurring Deposit Bonus associated with their Base Bonus tier or any lower Recurring Deposit Bonus tier. For example, a customer with an initial deposit of $200,000 (qualifying for the highest Base Bonus tier) whose aggregate recurring deposits total $500, is eligible for the lower tier and will receive the $50 Recurring Deposit Bonus. However, setting up a recurring deposit greater than your Base Bonus tier's required threshold will not qualify you for a higher Recurring Deposit Bonus.

The Recurring Deposit Bonus is paid in addition to the Base Bonus. To qualify for the Base Bonus and Recurring Deposit Bonus, your first deposit must be initiated between June 1, 2026, and August 31, 2026, by 11:59 PM ET, and the promo code SUMMER26 must be entered at the time of sign-up. Only funds deposited within 14 days of the initial deposit date and maintained with partner banks on the Raisin platform for 90 days will be eligible for the Base Bonus. Bonus cash will be credited directly to your Cash Account within 30 days of meeting all qualifying terms. This offer is available to new customers only and may not be combined with any other bonus offers. Raisin may modify or end this offer at any time and may withhold or revoke bonuses in cases of fraud, abuse, or violation of these terms or Raisin’s Terms of Service.

Downsides you should consider

High minimum to open an account

At $500, the minimum deposit required to open this account is a bit of a middle ground. Some accounts require less upfront but trade off for a lower APY, while others ask for more to earn slightly higher rates. If you're strapped for cash and can't meet the minimum, this isn't the account for you.

But for some people, $500 is totally doable, especially given the potential for big returns with just a small initial investment. And remember, even with $0.01 in your account, you'll still earn that 3.80% APY.

Online-only account with no ATM access

As a completely online account, Western Alliance Bank High-Yield Savings Premier doesn't offer in-person services or ATM access. This means no popping into a branch for face-to-face help or withdrawing cash at an ATM.

If you need ATM access on the regular or prefer branch access in your banking, you'll want to consider other options. But for those who are comfortable with digital banking and just need to park their savings, this shouldn't be a dealbreaker. Before making a decision, make sure to review how to choose the right savings account for your needs.

Mobile app needs work

Western Alliance Bank does have a mobile app, but it's primarily designed for other account types. The high-yield savings account access is a little buried and hard to find. This might explain the app's 1.4-star rating on the Apple App Store.

On a positive note, high-yield accounts aren't typically needed for daily banking activity, so it shouldn't be a hassle to just perform tasks via the online portal.

Funding your account could take time

Funding your account isn't as seamless as other banks. You can only link one external bank account, and you can't use wire transfers or check deposits to fund your account. Plus, it takes up to five business days for your initial deposit to process.

Want to switch your linked bank account? That could take up to 30 business days while Western Alliance Bank reviews and approves the request.

Neither of these should be dealbreakers if you don't plan on making frequent changes, which is why it's great for set-and-forget banking. But if there's a chance any of these apply to you, it may not be the best place to park your money.

Customer service

Western Alliance Bank has a dedicated customer service line for its savings account, available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PDT at (866)-347-1476. However, compared to many competitors that offer 24/7 support via phone or chat, this limited availability may be a downside for some users.

Accessing your money

A high-yield savings account only works if you can actually get to your money when you need it.

With Western Alliance Bank, there's a trade-off: no debit card, no ATM access, and no branch to walk into. It's a purely digital experience, managed through the desktop website.

That said, unlimited withdrawals mean you're never locked out of your funds. For most people using this account as a dedicated savings vehicle (not an everyday spending account), that's a perfectly fine arrangement. Think of it less like a checking account and more like a high-powered parking spot for cash you don't need daily.

Security and reliability

Security is one of the primary concerns most people have with putting a good amount of money in an online-only account. If things went south, you need to know your funds would be protected.

Rest assured that Western Alliance Bank is safe, as it's FDIC insured up to $250,000 per depositor. With fraud protection, SSL encryption, and automatic logouts, this account offers a reliable place to stash your savings.

Who is this account best for?

This account is a great fit for:

  • Savers with at least $500 ready to deposit
  • People who don't need ATM or mobile access
  • Anyone who wants an easy way to earn a high return on idle cash

If you're chasing every digital feature and want full app integration, this isn't the account for you.

But if you like the idea of passive, high-interest growth, and you're comfortable managing your savings via desktop, you'll love what Western Alliance Bank offers.

Open your account now and start earning 3.80% APY on your savings.
