An American Express card could be your ticket to big mortgage savings.
Although American Express offers a variety of financial products, one area it has always shied away from is home lending. That's no longer the case.
American Express Card Members who get a mortgage with one of the company's partners can receive a statement credit of $2,000 or $6,000 depending on the type of mortgage. It's a savings offer that you don't see often, even from the top credit cards.
This benefit is offered through new American Express partnerships with two of the best mortgage lenders, Better Mortgage and Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans. If you're planning to buy a home and you have an American Express card, then it's worth checking rates with those partners to see if you can take advantage.

There are some important terms and conditions you should know about to avoid any issues.
The offer is available to account holders of personal consumer American Express cards. The primary Card Member must be a borrower or co-borrower on the home loan application. You can't get the offer if you're an Additional Card Member or if your American Express card isn't a personal card.
The following types of cards aren't eligible:
With a Better mortgage, you must lock in your rate prior to Sept. 13, 2022, and successfully close on the mortgage by Dec. 17, 2022.
With Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans, you must submit a completed loan application no later than Oct. 2, 2022, and successfully close on the mortgage by Jan. 5, 2023.
Keep in mind that your American Express card needs to be open to get the statement credit. You won't receive it if you close your card before the credit is applied.
American Express is known for its useful partner offers. Most of them are shopping, travel, or entertainment offers, so this mortgage deal is a departure from the norm. Considering the value and the partners involved, it's a great first step into home lending.
Better and Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans are both highly rated online mortgage lenders. You don't need to worry about applying with a subpar lender to get this deal. And whether you get $2,000 or $6,000 back, you'll be saving a respectable amount.
Best of all, the offer is available with all personal American Express cards, including no annual fee cards. It's not limited to the priciest cards in the lineup. You can qualify whether you carry The Platinum Card® from American Express or a more affordable option.
If you have credit card debt, transferring it to this top balance transfer card secures you a 0% intro APR into 2023! Plus, you’ll pay no annual fee. Those are just a few reasons why our experts rate this card as a top pick to help get control of your debt. Read The Ascent's full review for free and apply in just 2 minutes.
