Delta Amex Cardholders Can Now Score a 15% Discount on Award Flights

Delta award flights now cost less for Delta Amex Cardholders. 

Delta Air Lines recently announced a new credit card perk available to Delta SkyMiles American Express cardholders. Travelers can now get a 15% discount when they book award travel tickets on Delta-operated flights. (Terms apply; enrollment required.) Here's how to put this new credit card perk to use. 

Delta introduces award flight discounts for cardholders 

On Feb. 2, Delta announced it would begin offering 15% discounts on award flights to Delta Amex credit cardholders. This benefit will allow cardholders to maximize the value of their SkyMiles while also getting more use from their credit card perks. 

Eligible cardholders must sign into their Delta SkyMiles account to use this benefit, and the discount will automatically be applied at checkout. 

The following Delta Amex credit cards are eligible: 

• Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card
• Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card
• Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
• Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business Card
• Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business Card
• Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card

This is welcome news for Delta loyalists with these cards in their wallets. 1. Sign into your SkyMiles account and select "Shop with Miles" to search for an award travel flight.
2. Select an eligible award flight.
3. You'll see the miles discount applied to your itinerary during checkout. 
4. You'll earn miles using your eligible Delta Amex credit card to pay taxes and fees for your award flight. 

Note: While this perk applies to award travel tickets for Delta-operated flights, it doesn't extend to partner-operated flights. 

Delta wants to offer more value to fliers  

As airlines compete for customers, Delta has been improving the customer experience to attract more fliers and keep loyal customers. One example is the brand's recent initiative to provide free in-flight wifi. The airline is rolling out free wifi on its domestic mainland aircraft and plans to offer this freebie on its international and regional aircraft by the end of 2024.
