Don't miss out on this valuable credit available to all Amex Platinum cardmembers.

Cardholders of The Platinum Card® from American Express will be happy to know that a new card perk was introduced on Jan. 1, 2021. Each month, through June 2021, cardmembers will be eligible for $30 in PayPal credits. This credit is easy to use, and it can be spent on regular necessities. The Amex Platinum card continues to provide more value as additional benefits are added, which is likely why it's continuously rated as a top credit card. Keep reading to learn how to use the Amex Platinum's new $30 monthly PayPal credit.

This benefit is simple to use and has no special enrollment. All you need to do is make purchases through PayPal, and then you'll receive statement credit each month. Here's a step-by-step guide to using this perk:

  1. Create a PayPal account or log in to your existing PayPal account
  2. Go to Account Settings and click on "Banks and Cards"
  3. Add your Amex Platinum card details here
  4. If you'd like, you can set your Amex Platinum card as your preferred method of payment so you don't forget to use this card when making purchases
  5. Go shopping with retailers that accept PayPal at check out
  6. Click "PayPal Checkout" when you're ready to pay and log in to your PayPal account
  7. Make sure you choose your Amex Platinum card and confirm payment

Once you make qualifying purchases through PayPal, you'll receive a statement credit. It's that simple. (It can take up to 12 weeks for statement credits to appear on your account.)

Bonus tip: Authorized users are eligible to use this perk, too. But monthly statement credits will not exceed $30 total. So, you won't get $60 in credits if you have an authorized user and you both charge $30 to PayPal.

Not sure where to use the credit? These stores accept PayPal

There are plenty of shops that accept PayPal payments. You probably already know and love many of them. Here are some retailers to consider shopping at with your credit:

  • Airbnb
  • Barnes and Noble
  • Chewy
  • Disney Store
  • eBay
  • Etsy
  • Foot Locker
  • GNC
  • Hotels.com
  • JetBlue
  • Netflix
  • Nike
  • Overstock
  • Target
  • Uber
  • Wayfair

This isn't an exhaustive list. If you have a favorite retailer in mind, check to see if they accept PayPal before placing an order. Whether you need to buy dog food, shoes, toiletries, home accessories, or gifts, you have many options to use your Amex Platinum monthly PayPal credit. Make sure you use this perk each month through June 2021 so it doesn't go to waste. The credit adds up quickly and, in total, comes to $180 in free money.
