Everyone's favorite intimate apparel retailer has its own branded credit card. Known as the Angel Card, it carries a set of perks when used to buy Victoria's Secret merchandise. And, as with many store credit cards, its worth depends on how much of a Victoria's Secret devotee you are. Let's discuss the specifics in this Victoria's Secret Angel Card review so you can learn whether it's right for you.

Full Victoria's Secret Angel Card review

This credit card is a good fit for: Frequent Victoria's Secret shoppers who want to save a little money on their lingerie purchases and don't plan to carry a balance.

Top perks

For what's essentially a one-company, two-retailer product, the Victoria's Secret Angel Card packs some punch. Here are the main perks.

No annual fee

We at The Ascent are fond of no annual fee credit cards. This card doesn't charge an annual fee, so as long as you pay off your balance in full every month, it shouldn't cost you a penny.

Earn up to 3 points per $1 at Victoria's Secret

Frequent Victoria's Secret shoppers can quickly accumulate points using an Angel Card to buy merchandise. It earns credit card points for purchases made in the namesake store, plus sister brand PINK, and online shopping portal victoriassecret.com. The base rate is 1 point per $1 spent, but you get 3 points per $1 on bra purchases. For every 250 points you earn, you get a $10 reward. At the lowest end, that's the equivalent of 4% cash back, which is high.

Monthly and annual gifts

Active cardholders get a "Perk of the Month" and a birthday gift. If you achieve Silver or Gold status by earning enough points in a year, you also get a half-birthday gift and an anniversary gift.

Intro bonus

You get $15 off your first online purchase with the card. After you open the card, your discount offer arrives in your email.

Free shipping

This card gets you free shipping on orders of $50 or more. While free shipping on all orders would be better, this is a decent perk for a card with no annual fee. This only applies to orders shipped within the United States.

What could be improved

While the Victoria's Secret Angel Card offers some generous perks for frequent shoppers, it also comes with some serious drawbacks.

High APR

It isn't unusual for store cards to have high APRs. This one is no exception. If you think you might carry a balance from time to time, this credit card APR isn't ideal.

Points and rewards expire

Points expire 12 months after a purchase. Additionally, Angel Rewards gift certificates expire 90 days after they're issued. These are pretty major cons, considering how many of the best rewards credit cards offer points and benefits that never expire.

Suggested credit score

The Victoria's Secret Angel Card is meant for people with a good credit score of at least 670. That gives you the best chance at getting approved for this card. That said, store credit cards are often a bit more lenient with approvals. If you have fair credit or a score slightly below 670, you might still qualify.

The Victoria's Secret Angel Card is right for you if:

  • You shop at Victoria's Secret often
  • You plan to pay off your balance in full every month

The Victoria's Secret Angel Card, while it's a beauty of a product inside the store, must compete with general-purpose rewards credit cards that generate points/cash back wherever they're used.

The bottom line is that the Victoria's Secret Angel Card is really only appropriate for people who buy from the retailer on at least a somewhat regular basis. The more frequently they do, the more savings and bonuses they'll earn. Everyone else should consider other products for their credit needs.
