Country Financial car insurance snapshot

Pricing

Country Financial's auto insurance premiums fall slightly below the national average for most drivers. Young drivers, especially those qualifying for its teen-oriented discounts, can score an especially competitive rate.

Discounts

The company offers a long list of discounts, many of which are pretty easy to achieve. There are also a few unique discounts that drivers won't find with any of Country Financial's competitors.

Perks

Country Financial offers all the standard auto insurance benefits a driver would expect as well as a few optional protections. But if there's a weak point in the company's offerings, this would be it. If it added common endorsements, like gap and rideshare coverage, it would truly be among the best options around.

Customer service

There isn't a ton of data on how Country Financial treats its customers, but everything available suggests most people are happy with the service they receive. The insurer has also had relatively few complaints filed against it.

Top perks

Great customer service

Country Financial received high ratings in J.D. Power's latest U.S. Auto Insurance Satisfaction survey. It also has a below-average complaint ratio with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). This suggests most of its customers are satisfied with the service they receive.

Affordable rates for young drivers

The average 18-year-old driver with a clean record pays about $6,087 per year for auto insurance in 2022. But Country Financial's average rate for these drivers is just $2,865 per year. The company also offers several car insurance discounts targeted at teens to help them save even more, including its good student and Simply Drive® discounts. The latter is a discount available to newly licensed drivers who complete Country Financial's Simply Drive® course.

Good variety of car insurance discounts

Country Financial has a long list of car insurance discounts. Some of them, like the engaged couple discount, are unique among the industry. There's also a Legacy discount that gives unmarried drivers under 25 years old a discount if their parents qualify for a multi-car and multi-policy discount. Plus, there are all the basics, like good driver, anti-theft device, and advanced auto insurance quote discounts.

What could be improved

Only available in 19 states

Country Financial auto insurance is currently only available in 19 states. Drivers who don't live in one of these states will have to explore other options.

Country Financial offers all the basic car insurance coverages. But it's missing popular add-ons, like gap coverage and rideshare insurance. Drivers who are interested in these will have to get quotes from some other insurers.

Customer service and ratings

Country Financial only appears in the J.D. Power U.S. Auto Insurance Satisfaction Study for the North Central region, but it took third place, scoring well above the regional average. While it would be nice to see how it measures up in some of the other regions it serves, it's reasonable to assume it would earn similarly high marks.

The company also has a National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) complaint ratio that's well below the national average. This suggests that few people are dissatisfied with the support they've received from the company.

Country Financial is best for:

Country Financial is a great fit for:

  • People who value great customer service
  • Young drivers looking to score a great rate

But drivers who don't live in Country Financial's service area may want to check out State Farm, while those seeking more optional coverages may prefer Allstate.
