A popular card design returns -- but not for long

The new Boeing 747 Card is a return of a design first offered in 2022, which Jon Gantman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Co-Brand Product Management at American Express, called "one of our most popular Card designs ever," according to a Delta News release.

The design is a glossy white inspired by clouds and the card is made of 33% metal from two Delta Boeing 747 planes retired after more than 27 years of service. An imprint of the airplane features prominently on the front of the card, which includes details like the plane's tail numbers, total miles flown, and first and last flights.

Existing cardmembers can get their hands on this limited-edition design by calling Amex to request it as a replacement for the card already in their wallet. Those who don't already have a Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card or Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card can choose this design option as an alternative to the traditional purple look at the time of application.

Regardless of whether you are a new or existing cardmember, the new design will not change the features or benefits available to Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card or Reserve Business customers. The card's special features purely relate to its unique construction and style that appeals to aviation enthusiasts.

These benefits can quickly add up to more than cover the annual fee, as long as you fly Delta. If you don't, there are other perks, including:
