1 Way This Tech Giant Can Get More Love on Wall Street

The guest on this week's nationally syndicated Motley Fool Money radio show is Alex Goldfayn, author of Evangelist Marking: What Apple, Amazon, and Netflix Understand About Their Customers (That Your Company Probably Doesn't). In this audio segment he analyzes how Microsoft's challenges in connecting with consumers is affecting the company's stock price, and why the company should consider taking a page from Apple's playbook.

Despite its challenges connecting with customers, Microsoft is making a big push in China. If you're looking for a smaller tech company that's making a splash in China The Motley Fool has a new free report on mobile named "The Next Trillion-Dollar Revolution" that details a "hidden" component play inside mobile phones that also is a market leader in the exploding Chinese market. Inside the report we not only describe why the mobile revolution will dwarf any other technology revolution seen before it, but we also name the company at the forefront of the trend. The Steve Jobs Betrayal
You may already know that in the final year of his life, Jobs revealed a stunning betrayal — and told his biographer, "I will spend my last dying breath... and every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank to right this wrong." What was it that made Jobs so irate — and why could it make a few in-the-know investors some major profits over the coming months and years?

You can only "take" the right "page" from other's books, if you do comprehend their contents in the first place.

All public statements from Ballmer (and other MS executives), and all actions by MS (from Zune, Kin, WP7, to just name the most recent disasters and non-starters) give ample proof, that they do not understand why and how Apple works.

Apple's success has many reasons, usability, top ratings in user satisfaction, top ratings for the support, top retail and online shopping experience and after-sales service, outstanding reliability of the devices, huge quality (!) developer base (not the junk you find on every new PC thanks to rogue OEMs), and, yes, the best ecosystem by a long stretch... just to name a few.

Ballmer's conclusion from that: Say "ecosystem" whenever nobody asked for it; "ecosystem" became for MS what Carthage was for Cato the Elder. Meaningless tripe to end every speech with.

And they understood "swiping". Swiping is cool - it must be the only explanation for the iPhone's success. Let's make a mobile OS that makes you swipe continuously for no reason (even just to read the end of a word) and let's give it the dreaded Windows name that every office worker on earth despises... Duh. Another fail. Why oh why?

Ok. Let's make retail stores. No idea what they should look like. Let's copy Apple's. Ever been to one? You can film Laurence of Arabia in them, while Apple's sell goods for $6 billion in one single quarter.

You can't' just take pages from other people's books. You have to understand why something works and other things don't. MS clearly doesn't.
