Why the iPad Mini Is a Win for Google

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL  ) is experiencing mixed reviews for the new iPad Mini, which, going by historical standards, sold well but not spectacularly during its first weekend on sale. And yet I'm a believer in the Mini. Bigger than the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 but smaller than its homegrown peers, the Mini is going to be every bit as deft at handling Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG  ) many entertainment and productivity apps as any other device on the market. And that's a huge win for the search king, as the video below explains.

Though Apple has remained coy about Mini sales so far, its component commitments suggest a record-breaking quarter is in the works. That leaves investors with a lot of information to digest. To help, we've added two bonus reports to our premium Apple research service. Each one addresses a different area of the Mac maker's business, and they're included -- right now -- at no additional charge. Learn more by clicking here.

Ainol-Novo? Who are they? Just another wannabe trying to sell some Android clone? Sorry, Novo is a small player with no traction. Just another brand that will come and go because they don't have enough profit margin to sustain their business.

The same that's happening in the PC industry is going to happen to the Android market.

Too many companies making too many variants and eventually they'll drop off the planet because they can't make a profit because they can only compete based on price.

Apple still has a better eco system which is part of why people are lining up to buy Apple products. It's not what they have out now, it's what they have coming down the road, and the entire eco-system.

Apple's already working on the iPad mini 2 and it's supposed to be much more robust in all respects as they get new screen technology, processor, etc.

The IPad mini is just their first revision and it will eventually be like the iPad 2, which still sells quite a bit. But for those that want a more high end version will wait for the iPad Mini 2.

Tim, what are you talking about?

The iPad mini sold close to twice as many units in its first weekend sales as the previous record holder the iPad 3.

How is that not spectacular compared to the past?

It's actually a big loss to Google as Apple marginalizes Google products more and more on The iOS platform - Siri bypasses Google search, no default YouTube app anymore, no more default Google maps (yes Apple's maps is not as good but is getting better), etc.

Make no mistake, with Apple selling more iPads in 3 days than Google or Amazon sold tablets in 3 months, Google is hurting.
