Reviewing the Z10: Is BlackBerry's Savior a Flop?

BlackBerry's (NASDAQ: BBRY  ) new Z10 smartphone has been widely touted as a critical step in the company's efforts to regain its former glory against Google's (NASDAQ: GOOGL  ) Android platform and Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL  ) iOS. How does the device perform?

Motley Fool analyst Rex Moore used the phone for several weeks and offers his review in the following video. With the help of tech experts Andrew Tonner and Robert Brokamp, Rex argues that the Z10 is a great device, but it won't be the product that's going to drive a significant number of new customers to BlackBerry.

The Z10 isn't the savior. The savior is the new secure QNX operating system on several hand sets at different price points targeting specific groups. Coupled with the BES10 for securing them and iOS and android for business. This being just the start. And seems to be a good one.

I get you guys acting like the class fools but...

Saying the phone is a great phone but won't lure IOS and Android users away because of ecosystem apps....?

If we agree that most people who have smart phones have between 0 and 75 apps loaded on there phone, that most apps are already available on the BlackBerry and for those that are not, they will be by the end of the first year of BlackBerry's roll out, why not move onto a great phone with better typing, better utility with battery exchange and expandable storage?

I saw a survey that defined the perfect size screen for one handed typing and it is 4.2-4.5". Why wouldn't I want a better phone for woman and men?

It will fail because there is not enough apps??? The same exact argument was made for android when it first came out against iphone IOS. We know now this is VERY wrong. The article's "analyst" made final poor conclusion base upon agreeable facts. In this respect, I make a better analyst....and I don't know that much about the phone industry!!

How's your Short position on BBRY doing?

Going Short with BBRY at $10 and long APLE at $700 is tough to support, these ridiculous articles bashing Blackberry have lost a lot of credibility for your organization.

With Q10 coming out you seem to have stepped it up a notch, 3-4 articles bashing Blackberry a day...I guess after detwiler fenton were exposed as morons you have to pick up the slack before any data coms in on the Q10....cut your losses, go long long BBRY , even after the last 120% gain they are still just getting warmed up....bail before the Short squeeze comes...

    Well!Well!Well!!!.

first of all the blackberry Z10 is not for just everyone, this phone was made for smart people. Keep in mind what i just said. the blackberry Z10 was made just for qualified smart people, Just the few millions that are smart enough to be able to handle this phone, and the people that have had the privilage, to hold it in their hands, to be able to play with it. and @ the end decide that it's not for them, or decide not to make that BIG! i mean BIG! change from that Old Rot fruit CO. is very Simple,Just please? dont buy it couse obviously your not SMARTenough to handle this piece of technology, that nothing out there compares to, and nothing will ever do. this is all you need one piece of equipment, you dont need three to four wedges of fruit to make this one... Wich is what you would need to make the BBZ10. come on SMART ones where are you? Time to dump the old rot fruit. wich by now i'm sure you all have noticed that the Fruit Co. is so afraid of the competition, that all they have left is to sue, sue, sue, to be able to grab the extra cash to survive... Lets GO! Few SMART millions out there, Might not be The Next Big Thing, But sure is The BEST BIG THING...

The z10 cannot hold candle to HTC, Samsung, Apple, Nokia, LG and Sony. This is why z10 will not sell more than any of these brands, not even close, yet Blackberry's survival depends on the z10, that is the tale upon which the BBRY stock price rose 130% since last September, z10 failing as a BBRY saviour will have a distinction level disaster upon BBRY if it fails to provide evidence of 'tens of millions' units of z10 sold within this calendar year. BBRY is liable to fail because of the z10.

Forget about Apple, BBRY cannot even take care of its own business. Latest sales figures slowed by 35% as BBRY global market dropped from 6% to 3%. Watch the BBRY performance figures, not those perrenial BBRY rants and propaganda, BBRY is a failed business anyway you look at it.

Funny fool video. BBRY has made a very good phone but just not a compelling phone to turn the overwhelming tide against it that their limited capital, lack of data farm investment, limited Apps and user preference problems are up against

The Z10 isn't suppose to the savor, it's suppose to be the introduction. Calling it BlackBerry's "savor" is inaccurate since they have already released the Q10 and announced another device for emerging markets. The savor is the platform.

Nothing worst than a couple of guys born in the 70's trying to act like they from the millennial generation.

And the guy who said he wouldn't leave because of apps is what "Crackberry" addicts similarly said 4-5 years ago, so we know that argument never lasts.

I don't have time to watch videos and based on the comments here, I'm glad I didn't. It sounds like this is worse than a lot of the articles I have read by MF. If the MF wants to present compelling arguments, then they need to write articles and not give us junk videos.
