Natural gas releases about 50% less CO2 than coal, but will it be paramount in reducing greenhouse gases? Experts are uncertain, and some say natural gas will have a limited effect on addressing global climate change.
Currently, gas flaring and methane leaks are reasons for concern, but experts are missing the rapidity of new gathering and storage facilities, in addition to pipeline infrastructure throughout the United States. Natural gas will be the fuel of the future, and as more companies get ahead of government regulations with regard to implementing environmental standards, the fuel will also be a huge driver in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Better yet, investing in environmentally conscious companies has paid off recently, and the next wave of winners can be found in the oil and gas space.
