The Department of Defense announced 37 new defense contracts worth a combined $1.82 billion on Wednesday. Defense contractor Northrop Grumman (NOC 0.85%) was one of the bigger winners, netting three separate contracts for, respectively:
- $10.6 million: a firm-fixed-price contract to build, test, and deliver 45 Low-Rate Initial Production technical refresh AH-1Z and UH-1Y helicopter mission computers for the U.S. Marine Corps by October 2015.
- $10.3 million: a modification to an R&D contract for Advance Electronic Protect, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) System of Systems capability for the IAMD Battle Command System (IBCS System Development and Demonstration) for the Army. This contract will now run through Sept. 30, 2015.
- $7.8 million: an un-definitized sole-source contract to manufacture and deliver computers for use by Navy support services in California through December 2015.
Among the other publicly traded companies winning contracts:
- Oshkosh Corp (OSK 1.28%) was awarded a $21.2 million contract modification to supply 5,733 tire and engine automatic fire extinguishing system kits for use on U.S. Army Mine-Resistant, Ambush Protected all-terrain vehicles (commonly known as "M-ATVs") by Sept. 30 2014.
- Honeywell International (HON 0.97%) won a $15.8 million contract modification to repair and overhaul AGT1500 engines used in Abrams main battle tanks by Dec. 31, 2014.
- Bell Helicopter Textron (TXT 0.64%) was awarded an $11.2 million contract modification to provide additional logistics products and services in support of the H-1 helicopter upgrade effort through December 2014.
