Kinder Morgan (KMI -0.64%) and Kinder Morgan Energy Partners (NYSE: KMP) will announce second quarter results after the market closes today. The Kinder Morgan family of companies started the year off strong as first quarter results were very good. Investors are hoping that the group can repeat its performance again this quarter.

Because of its structure Kinder Morgan really relies on Kinder Morgan Energy Partners to fuel its results. Further, because the natural gas pipeline segment is its biggest profit driver it will need another strong quarter from that segment.
