Dueling Fools: Mac vs. iPod

Few will argue against the "halo theory" when it comes to Apple Computer (Nasdaq: AAPL  ) . The success of the iPod, 60 million shipped units later, has helped breathe new life and brand recognition into Apple's flagship computing business.

Can one hit make the original success pale in comparison? Inside Value recommendation Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT  ) has a hit with its Xbox 360, but could it ever grow so endearing that it makes Mr. Softy cool again?

When it comes to Apple, not all Fools agree. Tim Beyers believes that Apple's future lies in its past of innovative computing products, while I feel that the iPod is the one doing the driving, and it deserves a little more recognition.

We're pitting Macs against iPods this week.
