Travel can be fun -- you go to new places, see new things, meet new people, and accumulate lots of memories for a lifetime. But it can have a downside, too: poor health. Often you're eating rich foods at restaurants, or fast foods, or bags of salty, greasy snacks. Maybe you're also spending hours in meetings or on tour buses.

Relief is on the way, if you stay at the right hotels. Health magazine and AOL CityGuide recently listed the healthiest hotels in America. They're ones that offer amenities such as good fitness facilities, healthy food offerings, spas, and stress-reduction services. Here's the list:

  • Four Seasons (NYSE:FS), Boston
  • Topaz Hotel, Washington, D.C.
  • Starwood's (NYSE:HOT) Westin Times Square, New York City
  • Madison Marriott (NYSE:MAR) West, Madison, Wisc.
  • The Peninsula Chicago
  • Mandarin Oriental, Miami
  • Starwood's W Atlanta
  • Houstonian Hotel Club and Spa
  • Las Vegas Sands' (NYSE:LVS) Venetian, Las Vegas
  • Watertown Seattle
  • Hotel Vitale, San Francisco

Of course, health-oriented amenities are just one factor to consider when looking for a hotel. You'd do well to also evaluate the price (check out Priceline.com (NASDAQ:PCLN) and Expedia (NASDAQ:EXPE), among other resources, for low prices). And consider location as well.
