Microsoft's War on Apple

The following video is this week's Motley Fool Money radio show, with Chris Hill, Ron Gross, James Early and Joe Magyer. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer left no doubt this week that his company is gunning for Apple. In an interview, Ballmer declared: "We are trying to make absolutely clear we are not going to leave any space uncovered to Apple. We are not. No space uncovered that is Apple's." In this segment the guys analyze whether Microsoft can truly win this war of technology giants and offer what they believe Microsoft's best bet for a winning product or service will be over the next year.

Technology companies are constantly making headlines, whether it's because of their CEO's pronouncements or because of their groundbreaking innovations. We've created a new report, "Forget Facebook -- Here's the Tech IPO You Should Be Buying," which details a much better social-media stock that has a longer runway for growth than Facebook. The report won't be available forever, so click here to get access today -- it's totally free.

Apple has eaten Microsoft's lunch for years and years and years. And a lot of that has come on who's watch? Ballmer. Until this year, Microsoft has not moved AT ALL for 10 years. Meanwhile, Apple has taken off for the moon. Sorry Steve, the horse is already out of the barn.
