  • The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card has a limited-time welcome offer of 75,000 bonus points for spending $4,000 in the first 3 months.
  • You get $0.0125 per point when you redeem rewards for Chase Travel bookings, and at that value, the welcome offer is worth $937.50.
  • It's possible to get even more value by transferring your points to one of Chase's airline or hotel partners.

Travel rewards cards are one of the best ways to save on travel expenses. If you're in the market for one, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a popular choice. And now's an especially good time to get it, because Chase recently upgraded the welcome offer.

It's a limited-time offer, and Chase hasn't revealed how long it will last. Here are the details on how much you could save with this card.

How to get over $900 in value from the Chase Sapphire Preferred

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card currently has a welcome offer of 75,000 bonus points for spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. Once you meet the spend requirement, you'll receive the bonus points within six to eight weeks.

Featured offer: save money while you pay off debt with one of these top-rated balance transfer credit cards

Now, one of the confusing things about travel rewards cards is how much points are actually worth. Before you apply for this Chase card, you'd probably like to know how you can use those bonus points.

Chase makes it easy to redeem your points. You can always redeem them for cash back at a value of $0.01 per point. But with Chase credit cards like this one, it's better to use your points for travel. With the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you get 25% more value ($0.0125 per point) toward Chase Travel bookings.

At that value, 75,000 bonus points are worth $937.50 in travel. You can use your points through Chase Travel to book:

  • Hotels
  • Flights
  • Activities
  • Cars
  • Cruises

Get even more value by transferring your Chase points

Chase Travel is a quick, convenient way to book travel with your points. There's also another option that's more complicated, but could get you an even better deal.

Through the Chase Ultimate Rewards program, you can transfer points to Chase's travel partners. Chase is partnered with over a dozen airlines and hotels, including:

  • Southwest
  • United
  • Hyatt
  • British Airways
  • Air Canada

Let's say you want to book a flight with United. You see that there are great deals available if you book a ticket with miles through United's loyalty program. But you'd need 60,000 United miles that you don't have.

If you just earned the welcome offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, that's no problem. You could transfer Chase points to United, turning 60,000 Chase points into 60,000 United miles. Then, you could use those miles to book the flight you want.

I do this often with Chase points, because you can get amazing deals. Business-class airfare and Hyatt hotel stays are my personal favorites. It's possible to get $0.03 per 1 point or more, meaning 75,000 Chase points could potentially be worth $2,250. Just keep in mind that finding opportunities to transfer your points is more work than booking through Chase Travel.

A top travel card with an amazing welcome offer

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card checks all the boxes for a travel card. It has easy-to-use points that can take you pretty much anywhere. I've used mine to fly business class to Europe and Argentina, to give you a couple of examples. You can earn a large number of points in a matter of months, thanks to one of the most valuable welcome offers currently available.

It also doesn't cost that much. Many travel cards cost hundreds of dollars. This Chase credit card is very affordable in comparison, with an annual fee of just $95. If you can take advantage of its travel perks, you shouldn't have any trouble coming out ahead on that annual fee.
