Who is Jobber for?

Jobber is for companies that frequently dispatch employees out of the office to complete jobs and services. If your company has a central office that receives orders but regularly sends employees out into the field to fulfill those orders, Jobber is for you.

Some companies that may benefit from using Jobber include, but aren't limited to:

  • HVAC installation and repair
  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • Foundation repair
  • Inspectors
  • Emergency restoration services
  • General repair and maintenance companies

The software's goal is to improve the efficiency of your business and its field workers. It includes robust features like client management, billing and invoicing, scheduling, and dispatching.

If you need help improving the efficiency of your field service employees and want a comprehensive solution for billing, report-tracking, and work management, Jobber is a perfect fit.

Jobber product features

Jobber puts all of the best field service management features at your fingertips. Need to know where a worker is and how long they've been at a client's location? Jobber does it. Want an easy way for employees to see what jobs they need to complete for the week? Jobber does that, too.

While many field service management programs offer the same features, Jobber's intuitive workflow and well-designed desktop and mobile apps are great for small businesses. No matter your employees' technological skill level, they'll likely find Jobber easy to use. Here are some of Jobber's core features.

Customer management

One of Jobber's core features is customer relationship management (CRM). With this feature, you can easily add and track new leads and clients and manage information for multiple properties under a single client.

Under the client tab, you can manage everything related to your clients, including active work requests, quotes, current jobs and who they're assigned to, and invoices.

Jobber's client section is easy to understand, and the pre-loaded sample client information helps you understand how it all works.

Jobber

Scheduling

Jobber makes it easy for managers to keep track of each client's daily work schedule and which team members are meeting with the client. You can view the work schedule for the month, week, and day and use a map view to see jobs based on location.

Just like with the desktop version, the app has lots of client details, as well as the daily and weekly job schedules.

Jobber

Dispatching

The Jobber app adds additional functionality for team members in the field. Managers can view team members' locations and assign them to jobs based on where they are.

The Jobber app has many features for team members, including a timer button for tracking how long a job takes and another for marking when a job is completed.

Field technicians can use the app to send text updates to clients telling them how far away they are, keeping clients updated with just a few taps.

Jobber

Billing and invoicing

Jobber makes it easy to create and manage invoices on the desktop app. You can search for current invoices based on client information or sort invoices on their status (paid, awaiting payment, past due, etc.)

On the right-hand side of the desktop, there's a quick view showing which invoices are overdue, sent but not due, and drafted, along with the total dollar amount for each. There's also a one-click button for adding new invoices and additional actions for batching invoices.

In the mobile app, when a field technician marks a job as complete, they can close the job and choose to send an invoice now or later or leave the job open. If they close the job and invoice immediately, they can choose between sending an invoice or collecting payment right then.

Jobber

Work order management

Jobber lists all the work orders under the "jobs" tab on the desktop, and, like the platform's other features, this section is easy to use. The main job section displays recent client visits, scheduled visits, and a list of all your company's jobs.

You can quickly add new jobs by selecting the "new job" button and then filling out the work order details, including the date, whether it's a repeating job or not, and who it should be assigned to. You can also select whether to be reminded to invoice the job, create line items, or add notes and attachments.

Jobber's mobile app automatically displays the current work orders for field technicians. Technicians can view whether the day's appointments are completed, active, or coming up. They can also view all of the current jobs of the day, by the week, or in a map view.

It's also worth mentioning that the mobile app makes it easy for workers to clock in and out and manage their time sheets. The desktop also has an entire section for viewing the automatic time sheets generated by workers.

Jobber

Reports

Jobber allows you to create various reports, including projected income, expense reports, taxation reports, and client communication reports. Based on four main categories: financial, work, client, and expense reports, I counted 22 possible reports that can be generated.

This is a good section to mention that when I tested Jobber and marked a job as complete, I immediately received an email thanking me for my business and allowing me to rate whether I would recommend the company to others. In the client report section, you can view which clients have received this email and whether they've responded to it.

Jobber

Jobber's ease of use

Jobber's app stands out for its ease of use. Its desktop program is also intuitive, but the Jobber app is especially easy to use. Not only that, but it's designed to not get in the way.

For instance, instead of a big visual menu cluttering up the page, the app keeps essential functions under a plus sign at the bottom of the page. If this seems simple, that's proof of the intuitive design.

Jobber mobile navigation brings up a menu via a "plus" icon and provides shortcuts to view clients, invoices, jobs, etc.

When you click on the "plus" icon at the lower right of the screen, this menu pops up. Image source: Author

Jobber could have put a visual menu like the above on the screen at all times, but instead they wisely opted to go with an unobtrusive visual menu that will encourage technicians to use it.

Jobber's pricing

Jobber offers three pricing plans:

Core Plan

  • Monthly: $69/month
  • Annual: $49/monthly on an annual subscription basis
  • 1 user

Connect Plan

  • Monthly: $169/month
  • Annual: $129/monthly on an annual subscription basis
  • Up to 5 users

Grow Plan

  • Monthly: $349/month
  • Annual: $249/monthly on an annual subscription basis
  • Up to 15 users

The pricing is ideal for a small business, which may have trouble breaking even in the early startup stages. The Core pricing, especially, can be a godsend to the micropreneur who got into their line of work not to wrestle with paperwork and administrivia, but to fix assets and help people.

Working with Jobber support

When I called Jobber support, they were helpful. Even better, they did something I've never seen a software company do: offer to call less. Normally, finding your way into a company's sales funnel means an unending, horror movie-esque series of sales calls from a frontline business development employee with the merciless resolve of a slasher villain.

When I called Jobber, however, the support representative I connected with, asked me if I wanted fewer calls from the sales team. I was also satisfied with the rest of the experience. My call was only eight minutes in total, and the support representative had a ready answer for my question, too.

Benefits of Jobber

Jobber's major selling points are the accessible pricing structure and the thoughtful design. Jobber's design is consciously different for the administrators who use the desktop version and the field technicians who use the app.

Service business software is meant to streamline a business's operations. Making sure that your software adapts to the different needs of different employees is a great way to do that.

Satisfy back office and field workers alike with Jobber

It's tough for anyone to satisfy both management and labor, but Jobber(Jobber) does a pretty good job of it. On one hand, the detailed and feature-rich desktop program helps you wrangle all the information you need to keep customers happy.

On the other, the Jobber mobile app gets to the point with its action-oriented UI. In both cases, while the visuals may occasionally be bewildering, the overall experience is worth your consideration.
