The Motley Fool's CAPS investing service is another great way for investors to work together to beat the market. Among other features, CAPS lets users blog about their picks, investing strategy, market view, yesterday's lunch, or whatever floats their boat.

As CAPS blogging catches on, players add more great content on a daily basis. I've dug through the past week's posts to find some of CAPS' best insights. With room for only seven posts here, I can't possibly cover all of the great stuff in the CAPS blogosphere, so when you're done here, I highly recommend checking out some more.

Making Microsoft cool
Can it be done? Can good advertising give Ballmer the sheen of Jobs? As the battle between Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) rages on, Microsoft continues to lag when it comes to the cool factor. CAPS blogger kristm thinks that will continue, but he doesn't think it has much to do with advertising. Check out his blog for more thoughts.

Crack spread going parabolic!
CAPS All-Star leohaas thinks now is the time to be looking at refiners like Valero (NYSE:VLO) and Sunoco (NYSE:SUN). Using some nifty back-of-the-envelope calculations, he found that the refining margins -- a.k.a. "crack spreads" -- that had been squeezing refiners to no end are finally starting to turn around in a big way. Hop over to his blog post to get the dealy-o.

How to search through CAPS blogs

Spreading fertilizer on the food price crunch
If you don't know what potash is these days, then you're obviously not hanging out with the cool kids. Potash and other minerals widely used in fertilizers have been a booming business lately and stocks like Potash Corp of Saskatchewan (NYSE:POT) and Mosaic have shot through the roof. Check out hey4ndr3w's blog for his take on why investors may see more of the same going forward.

Your most regrettable sell?
We've all had that fish that got away. There are plenty of reasons that lead to premature sell calls, but they all sting about the same. On her blog, ahabswife asks her fellow CAPS players what sell call they wish they could have back. Click here to share your war story.

CEO to CFO: you're a loser
I'll readily admit to owning more than a few of the joyously soft cotton t-shirts from American Apparel (AMEX:APP). The stock? Well, that's another story. Besides the fact that heavy competition is likely on the way, the company's CEO is more entertaining than he is inspiring. Case in point: TMFBane provides us a Wall Street Journal article recounting the CEO publicly making fun of his CFO. Check out TMFBane's blog to get in the loop.

Two tech picks
Ready to start sniffing around tech stocks? CAPS blogger SpaceMonkey01 thinks that Himax (NASDAQ:HIMX) and Silicom are two good ones to start with. Click through to his blog for his reasons why.

And that's our round-up for this week. Be sure to check back next week for more great blogging action. In the meantime, why not head over to CAPS and add your two cents to the community pool?
