For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Baidu met expectations on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue grew significantly and GAAP earnings per share increased significantly.
Margins shrank across the board.

EPS came in at $0.93. The 21 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.90 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.93 for Q4 were 86% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.50 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 79.6%, 120 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 51.3%, 70 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 45.9%, 150 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $678.8 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.84.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $3.58 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.66.
The stock has a two-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 4,199 members rating the stock outperform, and 647 members rating it underperform.
