The much shrunken DuPont Company, a "dominant player"??

Once the largest and leading global company in chemicals for most of the last century, DuPont had fallen to number ten in revenues amongst chemical enterprises by 2008. Looking at DuPont's arenas of competition:

Monsanto, the largest and most innovative seed company in the world is light years ahead of the plodding DuPont in genetic engineering.

Syngenta, is the largest and leading global company in agricultural chemicals.

Novozymes is the largest and leading global enterprise in food additives and industrial enzymes, well ahead of DuPont/Danisco.

DuPont does lead in the production of the industrial commodity, TIO2, and in Teflon and Kevlar materials.

Merely the perspective of one individual retail investor with small positions, long and short in DD...funfun..

DuPont's clever Management and their veritable army of PR professionals , lobbyists, and IMAGE consultants have been highly successful over the years in posing the old DuPont chemical conglomerate as a mystical "high tech science company", whatever that means. DuPont's most touted innovation last year was a misfiring, mislabeled, and falsely marketed turf weed-killer which has disastrously killed what will likely turn out to be over $1 billion in trees and shrubbery nationwide. Imprelis, tell us.

The dull performance of DuPont over the last 15 years has left DD shareholders keenly disappointed. The stock, DD, hit an all-time high in May of 1998 at 83 and change on a much greater number of outstanding shares, and has never returned.

    ...funfun..
