Is Nokia Headed to $0?

As Nokia's losses widen to $1.7 billion, tech analyst Andrew Tonner doesn't see a resurgence for Nokia anytime soon. Hardware manufacturers, in the mobile and PC markets, tend to miss out on the profits software manufacturers achieve, a trend we have seen with Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft.

Apple is the most influential company in technology and has delivered market-smashing returns for those lucky enough to invest in the company. However, with the impending release of the iPhone 5 and Apple TV on the horizon, the stakes have never been higher for the company. That may be the case in the PC market (HP, Dell vs Microsoft), but not in the mobile market. Google develops Android, but makes very little from it--it may not even pay for itself. The real money in Android phones is being made by ONE manufacturer--Samsung.

In the case of iOS, Apple makes the hardware and software. Your statement in re: mobile is nonsense.
