With the release of its Galaxy S III last quarter, Samsung has a phone worthy of serious consideration next to the iPhone. With its 4G compatibility, huge HD screen, quad-core processor, and even a Siri-eque application called "S-Voice," the Android phone was well received by consumers, selling more than 10 million units in less than two months. Samsung's success with the Galaxy S III and the rest of its devices allowed the company to dominate second-quarter smartphone shipments. We'll have to wait until the iPhone 5 is released to see what Apple has up its sleeve with its first 4G LTE device. In the following video, Brenton runs through the shipment stats from IDC, which also underscore the dire situation facing another smartphone maker, Nokia.
Apple is the most influential company in technology and has delivered market-smashing returns for those lucky enough to invest in the company. If you're looking for a recommendation on how to play Apple along with continuing updates and guidance on the company whenever news breaks, we've created a brand new report that details everything you need to know. Yes, Samsung sells more smartphones than Apple.
And yes, Samsung's latest model can finally compete for some users, at least on hardware, against a refreshed 2 year old Apple model.
But only 10% of Samsung's Smartphone sales volume are that much hyped SIII model. The rest, comparatively, are toys.
And even the SIII will be redundant when the next Android version comes out.
