Is Microsoft's Surface Family Already Expecting an Addition?

There's been recent speculation that Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT  ) is planning on launching a new 7-inch tablet to add to its Surface brand of devices. This new device is allegedly going to be called the "Xbox Surface" and geared heavily toward gaming uses. Microsoft has a strong position in the gaming market, which it could easily leverage to boost a 7-inch model. This particular tablet is said to run on Intel (Nasdaq: INTC  ) chips. All of its main competitors now have both small- and full-sized tablet offerings. Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN  ) has the Kindle Fire HD and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL  ) has the iPad Mini and iPad with Retina display, while Google (Nasdaq: GOOG  ) offers the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. A competitive response in the 7-inch arena makes perfect sense.

It's been a frustrating path for Microsoft investors, who've watched the company fail to capitalize on the incredible growth in mobile over the past decade. However, with the release of its own tablet, along with the widely anticipated Windows 8 operating system, the company is looking to make a splash in this booming market. In this brand-new premium report on Microsoft, our analyst explains that while the opportunity is huge, the challenges are many. I bought Surface RT and am anxiously waiting for Surface Pro. They did a great job on the hardware and they need to keep it up. I want MS to come out with Surface tablet(s), laptops, and phones. I am tired of the OEMs coming out with cheap, uninspiring units. They ruin the experience of the whole ecosystem. I am sure these bottom feeders will always be there, but MS needs to be the premium line – no nonsense best MS can offer. I would love to pay more for state of the art PCs/tablets.
