Market researcher Nielsen has recently released the results of its survey on what kids want for the holiday shopping season. The survey is broken into two age groups: 6-12 and 13+. Just like last year, Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL ) iPad tops the list, but competitive pressures are heating up. Google (NASDAQ: GOOG ) Android smartphones and Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN ) Kindle Fire tablets are also rising in popularity, ranking high among both age groups. Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT ) , Sony (NYSE: SNE ) , and Nintendo will be happy to hear that their respective gaming consoles remain very popular, with Nintendo's Wii U scoring just behind the iPad in the 6-12 age bracket.
