Ford (F 0.43%) is recalling versions of its 2013 Escape and Fusion models, the company announced in a statement posted on its website. The affected models run the risk of engine overheating that could potentially lead to fires.

Ford said it had received reports of such fires, although it hadn't received word of any injuries.

The affected models are the 2013 SE and SEL Escapes and Fusions equipped with 1.6 liter engines. Escapes with 2.0 and 2.5 liter engines, plus Fusions with the latter configuration as well as hybrid engines, are unaffected.

Ford advised owners of these models to contact their dealer, through which they may arrange alternative transportation. Such transportation will be provided free of charge, the company said.

Ford added that repair procedures for the affected vehicles are not available at the moment.
