CFO Named National Oilwell Varco's New President and COO

On Thursday, oil-field services provider National Oilwell Varco (NYSE: NOV  ) announced it has promoted Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Clay Williams to the twin positions of president and chief operating officer.

Williams has served as CFO of NOV since March 2005, prior to which he served as CFO of the company's predecessor Varco International prior to its merger with National Oilwell that month.

National Oilwell Varco further announced that its Downhole Pumping and Solutions unit President Jeremy Thigpen will assume the role of CFO for the whole company. Thigpen has worked for the company In various capacities for 15 years.
