The 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show is under way in Las Vegas. Even though some may downplay the event because big names like Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL ) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT ) don't have official representation, their presence permeates -- and even dominates -- the floor space. This is because thousands of app and accessory makers owe their very existence to these two companies' products.
Meanwhile, names like Ford (NYSE: F ) -- not normally associated with consumer electronics -- have the largest presence at the show, as apps and safety technology move more and more into the automobile.
Motley Fool analyst Rex Moore is at the show, and has more of what we can expect in the video below.
Apple has been a longtime pick of Motley Fool superinvestor David Gardner, and has soared 219.20% since he recommended it in January 2008. David specializes in identifying game-changing companies like this long before others are keen to their disruptive potential, and he helps like-minded investors profit while Wall Street catches up.
